We woke up when it is 6:30 in the morning, when we took the opportunity to work for a while and download all the photos we took yesterday after the boat trip on Lake Como, for later, when it is just over eight in the morning. Tomorrow we will leave the accommodation at Lake Como here, the B&B Al Porticciolo di Sant'Agostino, to approach the cafeteria that we have right in front of the apartment, where we have breakfast a couple of pastries plus a couple of coffees for 8 euros, which give us the Enough energy to start this last day that we will spend in this incredible corner of Italy, which we are enjoying so much and where we will surely return, we hope that soon and with more time.

We have to say that the atmosphere in this cafe is typical Italian typical: with typical background music, something that reminds us of what we like the country, and the almost need We have to spend a little season here. This country has stolen our hearts and we are looking forward to getting lost here without a return ticket.
A few minutes past 9:00 in the morning when we say that the time has come to start with the number of places what to see in Como in one day. The first place we want to visit is the pier, one of the corners of Como that you can not miss and not only because of the beautiful views of the town from here, but for being one of the busiest places, especially on weekends , especially on Sundays, at which time we can meet many people walking and enjoying a few hours of relaxation on this holiday.

As from the Paseo Villa del Olmo

In this area begins the Paseo Villa del Olmo, one of the walks you can not miss in Como, as it shows you a unique perspective of the lake and everything that surrounds it. From here we have incredible views of everything that is the front of Como with the Cathedral standing out from the rest, apart from having unique views of the Funicular of Brunate where we will climb later, and the entire shore of the lake. No doubt a totally recommended area.
A good option to learn about the history and curiosities of Como is to book this tour through the historic center with a guide in Spanish that includes the funicular to Brunate and a boat ride.

Villa del Olmo

It's mid-morning when we finish this walk along the walk and after shuffling some options on what to see in Como At this time of day, we decided on the Historic Center, one of the areas we most want to know.
Something that catches our attention is that from outside As we did not find it too interesting and it is that we inevitably compared it with Bellagio or Varenna, two of the villages that we liked most of Lake Como, although after visiting Como, we have to say that it is very worth spending a few hours here And it is worth visiting. The first thing we do is approach to the Cathedral of Como, where we enter and delight in a really beautiful space, where we take advantage to delight in every corner.

Interior Cathedral of Como

When we go out and see the atmosphere in the area, we take the opportunity to sit on a terrace that is right in front of the Cathedral where we have a soda and a beer, plus a plate of potato chips that put us, for 10 euros. Here we cannot say that the price is adjusted, although the nailed And we have gone to sit in the most central and tourist place in Como.
From here we approach the San Fedele Church, one of the most recommended churches to visit in the area, where we arrived by the hair and that is that they are just about to close. Although in spite of that, they let us in and take a few minutes to go for a fairly quick spin, which shows us an incredible interior and which is awarded one of the first positions of what to see in Como.

Como Square

It's almost 12:30 noon when we finish the visit to the Como Historic Center and we decided that the time has come to approach the funicular of Brunate, one of the things what to see in Como, which are marked as essential on any trip to Lake Como and that we, without a doubt, will not ignore.

Funicular of Brunate

We arrived at the ticket office of the funicular of Brunate, which is located about 500 meters from the center of Como and where we just met a fairly large group of people who are right in front of us in the queue, although luckily, they go quite fast, so we don't have to wait more than 15 minutes for our turn to buy our tickets for 5.50 euros for the round trip, per person.
With the tickets already in hand we take no more than five minutes to access what are the control barriers, where we put the ticket and where the funicular that takes us in less than five minutes arrives, with really impressive views, until the Highest part, Brunate, from where as you can imagine, the views over Lake Como and Como are incredible.

Views of Lake Como from Brunate

Once in Brunate we have two options, go directly to the viewpoint where you can reach if you follow directly the street next to the restaurants, and if you do not go down a little down the road, where from the first curve you have much wider views of Como and Lake Como.

How

Another option is to take a bus that takes you to the area of the lighthouse, where it takes about 20 minutes or so to arrive, where we finally decide not to go, since we have read that the views really worth it They are the ones from the viewpoint we just went to, which is very close to the Brunate funicular.
In the end we are in this area for approximately 40 minutes, time in which we take several photos and we enjoy the incredible views we have of Como and Lake Como.

From here and when there are a few minutes to half past two in the afternoon, we say that the time has come to eat, so it's time to return to the Brunate funicular, while we delight again with the views and once on land, We look at TripAdvisor, as we usually do when we are traveling, and after a first selection we start from restaurants that we see that have very good opinions, we go back to the Historic Center of Como in search of you. The problem we find is that when we arrive, we are told in all that they close at three in the afternoon, but that the kitchen closes at two, so they cannot attend us. This is found in three of the restaurants that we ask so if you are going to eat at any trattory or osteria, it is worth taking it into account and especially go before 2:00 in the afternoon to ensure the place in the dinning room.
After a few laps and seeing that right now there is nothing any restaurant open in this area, we see that we have two options: go to a McDonald's, something that would be a sin being in Italy, or directly returning to Japanese, where we had dinner a couple of days ago and we liked it a lot, that although it is also a sin in some way, we resolve that at least it seems that with this we will achieve the acquittal something faster.
Once in the restaurant we ask for four different varieties of rolls plus a plate of tuna tartare plus water, soda and two express for 46 euros that give us strength to say goodbye to Lake Como and make our way to Milan airport, where at 7: 45 in the afternoon our EasyJet flight will take off from Milan to Barcelona.
It's a little after three in the afternoon when we leave the restaurant and after putting our GPS, we get lost again by the Italian roads, this time as a farewell.

Lake Como Road

We arrive at the Milan airport when it is 5 pm, after making a brief stop to fill the gas tank and after checking the rental car on Lake Como and taking some photos to have no surprise after the return , we passed the security checks and when it is 6:30 in the afternoon, we settled at our boarding gate, waiting for them to announce the flight that will take us home and where we will start thinking about what will be our next trip inside less than a month ...
